What's up for the rest of 2013?

Blogathon post 10/30

After two fairly negative posts it's time to lift my head and look to the future with a positive attitude. The good news is that I will run tomorrow morning as the flu seems to be something of the past. I better get my butt in gear as I have some serious goals to meet.

So what am I training for?

The rest of the year is all about trails and mountains. I realised earlier this year while training for the Comrades how much I love the trails. I missed the trails a lot more than I thought I could. Luckily my long term plans are all trail at the moment.

For this year I have 4 main goals left. Well, maybe 5 but I am still undecided about the 5th. There are a few small races in between but the main goals are as follow;

3 August - Num-Num Trail Challenge. 36.5km on probably the hardest trail in South Africa.

7 September - Mont-Aux-Sources 50km Challenge. High altitude with the most spectacular views imaginable.

24 - September - Otter Trail Challenge. 42km along the Southern Cape coast. Beautiful but extremely technical with some swimming across river mouths and more than 2000m (6561ft) ascent.

12 October - Brauhaus Run. 45km over an unmarked course. This is a different kind of challenge that I want to use to get a feel for the sky running that forms part of my long term plans.

November - November depends on what I decide to go for in December. I might actually do a 32km (20 mile) road race in November but if I do the Sabie 3 day race in December I will rather do trail preparation in November.

December - December will be either the 3day trail race in Sabie or I might decide to go have revenge on the 48 hour circuit race at the end of the year. I am still deciding about this one. If I go for it I want to have a full go at it this year.

So there's my plans for the rest of 2013.  Awesome plans! So I lift my head now and go for all of this with a very positive outlook and attitude. Between all the negatives and heartbreaks, life remains good.

Have a great week everyone!

You've got some big plans afoot - as usual. I'm looking forward to reading lots of race reports and looking at the pictures.

I missed your last 2 posts, so had to catch up. Hopefully you are starting to feel better by now, but so sorry about your loss. Losing a pet is truly difficult.

Hope you have many more happy things heading your way in the future.

You have some great races lined up for the rest of the year.

Good luck in getting back on track in training for them.

Looks like a great season ahead for you. Hope you are feeling better!! The flu is never fun that's for sure. Definitely interferes with training too :)
