Saturday morning I went for a 10km trail run on my favorite trails in the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. It was awesome!
With all the rain we had in March the trails are beautiful and green. Summer is no more but it still looks as if it is around.
The views were great as well!
To the South with beautiful blue skies!
To the North with Johannesburg in the distance.
I loved every second out there and ran to the highest point in the reserve at the white beacon.
Final steps up to the beacon.
The trails were pure bliss!
In the final kilometer I came up to a Blesbok that trotted ahead of me for about 100 meters before disappearing into the bush. He made sure I didn't catch up with him.
Catch that Blesbok!
Then the last little hill and a fantastic trail run was done. I will be back this Saturday for sure!
Have a super week everyone!

What a gorgeous place to run!
The places I can see in your pictures are absolutely stunning.
Love running through nature reserves.
Ah, it's so good to see you back out there running those trails, healthy!
No Blesboks in Colorado; I'll have to Google what one of those are. I see deer a lot, mountain goats, and big horn sheep and an occasional coyote. I'm terrified of seeing a mountain lion as I know the mountains are ridden with them...but thankfully haven't.
Have a fantastic week, Johann! Keep up the solid training! :)
That really looks like a spectacular trail, Johann! Lucky you.
What a beautiful run! I miss running in South Africa. It was only for a week or so, but it was so pretty!
That looks like a beautiful trail to run!
You've had some rain haven't you? Everything's looking so beautiful and green.
I also spent hours alone on the trails this saturday, no buck for me, but I did see the "lesser spotted trail runner" and a herd mountain bikers...
Chasing Biesboks is great speedwork!
Wow that simply looks amazing. Trail running through that landscape that must be pure joy.
The beautiful weather doesn't hurt either.

Love your joy in this report! Glad you had an animal shot as I was hoping for one.
I love a good run story, may you have many more.
Posts like this are great! It's like taking a mini-vacation to see what other runners see on their run.
