Golden Gate, South Africa
A month from today, on 27 October, I will be at the Golden Gate National Park for the Golden Gate Challenge. This is a three day event over 71km (44miles). Basically each day is a run to the top of a different mountain.
I'll post a full preview later but for now I just want to show you South Africa's Golden Gate.
This is it...
Yes, I'll run over that rock on my way to the mountain top in the background.
I agree, can't wait to read all about it. Although, I'm not interested in this type of event for myself right now, I enjoy hearing about others doing it! Maybe someday I will try something like this but for now, it is fun to view from afar. Awesome!
The photo shows that you are going to run through a wonderful and wild landscape. That's why I love running: It can give us those great opportunities. Have a good training for your next challenge!
Boy you South Africans have some of the most challenging races. Three days running up hills - just my type of challenge. When is it? Oh pity, I'm busy that weekend.
Awesome!! That picture looks a lot like some of the formations in the state of Utah (right next to Colorado...so when you come visit me in CO, we'll head over to UT and visit there, too :)).
Looks like another great race. When I saw the words Golden Gate, I thought, Great! Johann's coming to California. (Our Golden Gate is a bridge in San Francisco). But alas, I read on and found that you will be running this awesome race instead. : )
Hi Johann, very nice challenge! You have done some spectacular races this year. I have not been doing much - there is quite a bit going on here, and I will write it up soon. But have been getting up at 3am to watch the rugby, which is brutal. Still the Bokke are doing ok - actually more than ok. The defence is a wall as always, so I am a happy bunny.

That is a great challenge. I can't wait to read all about it!

I'd love to do a running stage race, especially with scenery like that. Just incredible...
Wow--beautiful, Johann! Do you ever get tired of running in so much beauty? ; )
That view would keep me motivated and moving. That elevation climb however... that is another story ;) Have fun!
Wow that's awesome! You have the best scenery for your races!

Is this the one where you'll be camping? Sooo cool! I'd totally run it with you!

You are too much. And you are going to do a similar thing 3 days in a row? Wow.

Wowzers! You really do make the most of your amazing landscape!
It looks like another tough challenge but at least you have the chance to enjoy wonderful landscapes and to put another ultra under your belt.
