If I could inspire someone to run, who would it be and why?

This post is in response to the 2nd question in Christina's running question challenge.

Running Question Challenge Question 2:

If you could inspire someone to run, who would it be and why?

Answer:
I'll have to go with Tony on this one. It’s most definitely my eight year old son. If I look at the impact the inspiration from my dad had (and still have) on me, I can only hope I inspire my son in the same way. He did his 1st 5km run at the end of November last year and displays his medal and race number proudly on his bedroom wall. Maybe something rubbed off on him already!

Johann thanks for the shout out and link.

If there is one thing I really want to do is try and be a positive influence in my son's life. I may not be perfect, but I can teach him about having a healthy lifestyle and hope it cathces on. Kudos to you for doing the same. He should be extremenly proud of the bib and medal.

Hi Johann,
How wonderful for you to want to inspire your eight year old son! If he does continue to run, think of all of the quality time that you will be able to spend with him! I love that he hung his medal and bib on his wall:)

Have a great day Johann!!

You are already an inspiration to him. As he gets older and you can run races together you'll have a lot of great memories. You will however have to deal with that strong possibility that he could be faster than you and leave you in the dust.

This is a great story! Both my kids are racing/running/being active now and I am so glad I turned my life around to be that influence. Your son is already emulating you!

Hi Johann,
I just wanted to thank you for your comment and I also wanted to let you know that I am not always a cheerful person:) I do try to be but there are sometimes when I can get pretty darn cranky:) I am human:) So you live in South Africa...is that where you are originally from? What is it like there? I am just curious. Have a great day!

Hey Johann, thanks for visiting my bloggie. I thought I had already posted this comment yesterday, but I must have screwed something up......it sounds like your son is going on to great things. Starting off winning one's AG is fantastic! Keep us posted on how he does.

I am quite sure you have already inspired Tony more than you know! How great he's done his first 5k! I can just imagine how proud you are.
