Johann, I was thinking of you on Sunday, wondering how it was going and I'm so sorry to hear about your toe! Must be a big disappointment, but hopefully it will heal soon and not cause any lasting problems. Thanks for sharing the pictures - it looks like an amazing event. Hopefully there is another one in your future sometime soon!

It was so dark at the start. I love races where it's dark and then you start running and it lightens up all around you and then turns so bright and sunny. Just perfect! It's a wonderful creation, this world.

I've just been listening to the Marathon Talk podcast, where the 2 presenters were discussing their first attempt at Comrades! They said the start and finish were particularly amazing. Great photos, glad the toe doesn't seemed to have dampened your spirit!

That last caption says a lot! Hope you're healing.

Great photos. I love the start picture - the pre-dawn darkness - I can almost feel the anticipation and excitement. Then the dawning day with so far to go. And all those people with one goal in mind p to conquer Comrades.

Great pics. I listened to a podcast last night about Comrades....they said the 1st aid station was so packed you couldn't even get to it.

They also said the winner ran a 6 minutes pace. Can you believe that? I cannot. 6 minute pace for over 50 miles. Seems unhuman to me.
