I haven't been on the trails as often as I would like but it was great to be out there this past weekend.
Winter is here! This is not only apparent because of the icy cold temperatures, but can also be seen when looking at the dry surroundings.
Johannesburg gets rain in the summer so the winters are dry and dusty. Green and lush trails turn into dusty brown trails. On Saturday this was clearly visible.
I could smell winter in the air during this run. The first real winter trail smell of the year for me. It is beautiful in a different way.
This pic was taken on my previous run here....
Now look at the same pic from this Saturday...
Winter trails are here! I love winter and winter trails!
Run strong my friends!

They still look great to me Johann....great they are not covered with 3 feet of snow :) Happy running on the trails.
During our long winter I started thinking I might never see the color green again! Now the trails are overgrown with greenery. There's something special about running trails in the winter, for sure. Enjoy!
I agree, Johann - winter running and winter trails have its own kind of beauty. Love it.
Winter definitely has its own beauty - love the comparison photo!

If I never see winter again, it will be too soon!
I wish my winter trails looked like yours! Instead, ours tend to run icy and snow covered, sometimes nearly impassable!
I know we're supposed to be on the same seasonal rotation but we've seen very little of winter so far this year. It was a little cooler yesterday and that gave me hope that things would change soon but I'm still wearing singlets and shorts on my runs.
It's always so strange to me when you talk about it getting colder when it is getting warmer here. Social media is great for getting other perspectives and realizing the world is so much bigger than what you are experiencing.
I was out on the trails here in the foothills of Denver tonight and remarked how GREEN everything is for Colorado right now - a rare treat because by now things are usually turning brown. But we've had some early summer rains which have kept things so beautiful. Nothing wrong with brown, but it's the color Colorado sees the most of so enjoying the extended green-ness.
Glad you're able to get out on the trails, doing what you love best! :)
Lots of Green in Cape Town...
... and here it's summer. The trails in winter are wonderful, especially after a little of rain. Enjoy.
As Robin said, no snow (must be so nice)!!! Gorgeous winter trails & happy running!
