Rhodes Ultra Preview

On Saturday I'll be in survival mode while completing the Rhodes Ultra trail race. I did not plan to run this race but I've been on the waiting list for many years. So when I suddenly got the opportunity to run it I had to go for it.

This is a tough 52km mountain run and definitely not for the out of shape or faint of heart. The profile speaks for itself.

The Sentech Tower in Brixton, Johannesburg is 237m (778ft) high.

Mmm... Survival mode for sure!

Add harsh weather conditions to the mix and we can be sure to be in for a hard day of fun. Chances for snow seems low at the moment as we are experiencing a very warm winter so far.

So if we don't get this...

We'll be having fun with this...

We are leaving early Friday morning as we have an 800km drive to Rhodes. I'll report back as soon a I am able to.

Happy running everyone!

I may be able to put together quick little short races ... but YOU my friend, are a MAN!!! Good luck with that trip to hell and back you're calling a "trail race". I know you'll be great!

Wow! Nice comparison with that tower. And who knows what the weather will be? I hope it all goes well for you. Being you you are well trained.

That's really hard core. I'm not sure whether to wish you exposed boulders or snow. But either way I hope you have a bit of fun along the way.

Sorry you are not getting any snow, we have 8km of snow... was amazing.

You do you that a clear night could mean it's a little cold at the start.

Have fun and we can't wait for your write up.

It looks very scary but I am sure you will do great.
Good luck.
Rugby, SA is always a great team, Italy must learn to play without "soldiers of fortune": only motivated italians and no foreign players at the end of their career.
