Some Video and Recovery

As I said in my Sani Stagger report I took a few short videos just for fun but also to give an idea of what it was like on the mountain. The wind was crazy and it was just tough overall. I've never posted videos and I'm not sure about size and format and all those things. I hope you can view these, they are very short.

About 1km from the summit.

Getting closer!

Reaching the summit. Very windy!

I've recovered remarkably well after the run and did a 5km recovery run this morning. I'm feeling good and there  are no injuries or pains from the run or the fall. My left leg is blue/purple/yellow under my knee from the fall but zero pain. :D!

I'll treat this week as a recovery week and start some ultra training next week.

Recovery week:

Mon: Rest
Tue: Rest
Wed: Rest
Thu: 5km, done - feeling good with no pains or niggles.
Fri: 7km
Sat: 5km
Sun: 10km

Happy running everyone!

So glad you are feeling so well! That's amazing actually. I didn't manage to get the video to play but hopefully it's just my slow computer!

There is a said: "No pain no gain" but I disagree. It is important to be painfree after that kind of race. You are wise to plan a bit of rest and some short runs.

I love the videos Johann! It shows not only how beautiful the course is but also how challenging. I can't believe how windy it looks....I could hear it in the video too:) Cheers to a pain free recovery run!

Wow Johann, between the wind and the steep incline I am amazed you are feeling so good. You have some great training and conditioning behind you that has worked to keep you healthy and strong. Great job! Have a great rest!

Videos worked well. I could see and hear the wind, quite hectic. Again, well done on a great accomplishment! Amazed at your ability to do so many hard-going marathons and ultras. (What camera do you use?)

Hooray for no pain! The videos make it appear more mountain climbing than trail running, amazing place to race.

Wow, the videos are even crazier than I expected! Glad you are feeling so god after the big race and no ill effects from your fall.

I would almost cry thinking about riding up those hills, let alone run

I am glad you are having no pain

Those videos really give us perspective on how tough that race was. The first video, though, nearly qualifies as an up-skirting video because of the slope of the mountain :)

Glad to hear that you're recovery quickly! The wind in those videos is just unreal!

I really liked the videos. I know it was a steep run but until I saw the video I didn't realize how steep.

That hill and wind was nuts. Good job on the sound recovery plan and being able to run a 5K. BTW, I posted some pics on my blog for you!

Rest is always good, enjoy it.
Your videos turned out great, I love hearing the wind but I'm sure it wasn't as nice when you were actually out there running in it!
Thanks for the videos!
