Throwback Thursday - A Tribute to the Badges

Back in the day, I'm talking the 1980's here, we received a badge when we completed a race...not a medal. I have many badges. We used to fill our tracksuits and towels and blankets with our badges.

I have more medals than badges now, but I must admit...I miss the days of the badges,...

Those were good days!

Happy running everyone!

I love this--wish this was a thing here! What a great way to keep the memories.

So much more environmental (and less noisy) than a bunch of medals. This should revived / brought in*, it would be fantastic.

* must add that I used to be in the boy scouts, and so this appeals to the kid in me too :-)

It always reminds you those great achiements!

My kids used to get similar patches when they competed in big athletic events through Little Athletics. They were such a great history of what they'd achieved.

I started to sew them on a towel... then asked a girl friend to help... we broke up and well I have never see them again!!! (that was back in '95)

I think these would be great to get after a race - you can do a lot more with them than a medal.

I did my very first cycle race when I was 12 (in the late 80s) and also received a badge for that. I still have it and love it too!

I like the idea of the badges.

Oh I just love that! Great photo, great badges. My son just got his first swimming badge (200 metres) and we're going to sew it on his towel!

Yes, good days, at that time we were running pioneers. As I wrote I have lost all my running "memories" when I changed house. Luckily I have the photos again.
