Thank you and thank you and main 2012 goal

Two times thank you and then the news about my main 2012 running goal.

1st thank you everyone for all the good wishes and blessings for our marriage. It is all appreciated very much.

2nd thank you is for Jill who's Secret Santa package finally made it to Africa. I warned Jill about "Africa Time" and I was not wrong about that. The package I sent also made it to the USA last week.

Jill sent me some awesome goodies from Colorado. A lovely book! A great Rocky Mountains t-shirt, some Colorado playing cards, Colorado jelly beans and some stickers. Thanks Jill!

All of these goodies from Jill was sent to me to get me excited about my main running goal for 2012. That goal is to run the Pikes Peak Marathon in Colorado in August.

Yes, I plan to take my lovely wife on a trip over the ocean and will combine this with a little mountain hike up Pikes Peak. I will of course be joined by Jill herself and she already convinced Ewa to come along as well. I'm sure there will be some good blogger meetup or even multi meetups during this trip.

So I am off to train very hard right now!

Have a super week everyone!

Wow! Colorado in August is the place to be! You, Ewa and Jill! Awesome! When I visited my friend in Colorado two summers ago I hiked (not ran) PP and that was a huge accomplishment for me. You will be great. Any chance you're coming east for any ultra runs while you're here?

I think the Green Girl is going to have to make a trip out there, too.

This is so exciting, Johann! Whee!

Wow Johann...traveling to Colorado, and a marathon, sounds like a great trip!

Hey Johann...
Glad the box finally arrived, I was a bit skeptical when the postal lady told me the package would arrive in a week. I mailed in December 6th. Yeah, right! Hahah. Glad it all came safely! Some of the things I though your son might like, too.

Please tell Kate she's using a pretty lame excuse living too far to come visit. Um, you're coming across the big blue pond, she's coming from St. Louis, maybe a 10 hour drive :). Happy Trails though, that mountain is right in their backyard, we will have to mooch a place to stay race night maybe ;).

So looking forward to seeing you and your new wife in a few months!

How exciting - a cross-continent blogger meet-up. Colarado in August is obviously THE place to be.

Forget Colorado - come to the east coast! :)

(Okay, okay, Colorado is pretty fantastic - as is Jill, who I had the pleasure of having dinner with last fall!)

You and Jill are pretty persuasive...now I'm wondering if I could get away with a trip to Colorado without my husband leaving me. Maybe I can convince him to come along...he can take pictures for us all. ;)

It's a great plan, Johann: I hope you'll enjoy the race in Colorado!

Nice gift from Jill. Give me some time and I'll blog about your wonderful gifts which I've been showing off.

Don't know if I'll make it to pikes peak when you do, but I'm only 1 state away from Jill. About 8 hours drive to Pikes Peak.

Johann, tagged you in my latest post :)

How exciting on all accounts!! Yay for your package finally getting there! That is crazy that it took so long!
I am thinking about doing the Pikes Peak marathon too! If I do, we'll have to somehow arrange a blogger meetup!

I just saw on Ewa's blog that she is thinking of doing this - how exciting that you are going to do it together!!!
We will actually be in Colorado in July this year, so unfortunately I don't think I can make it back in August, but now I wish I could!

Congrats on the wedding!

Pikes Peaks, my favorite! I have always said that I would run one of the races every year until I can't anymore. BUT, I did not figure on my "Leadville" fever, which is the same weekend. Some run Leadville drive down and then run Pikes Marathon, but I don't think those guys are right in the head. Then again I said the same thing about people who ran Leadville. Otherwise, I would join you.

You should spend the prior week in the mountains, get better acclimated, watch Leadville 100, then drive down for your race Saturday night.

Also, make sure you set your alarm for Pikes Peak registration, it can sell out in hours. I even have my info pre-typed and then just copy and paste. I have seen one of the races sell out within 30 minutes. Since then they changed the requirements and it has slowed down quite a bit. Either way don't risk it. I have been able to register 5 years in a row, but have registered within the first 5 minutes. I think Jill has gotten in every time as well. Good luck!!!

*Trail running has become an epidemic here in Colorado, this year for example Leadville 100 almost doubled the amount of spots and sold out the first month. It normally takes 6 months or more to fill up with half the entrants.

I will be thinking about you March 15th.
