Quite a Scare

On Saturday evening my stomach started to feel a bit uncomfortable with a few cramps and just general soreness. As the evening progressed this became worse and later nearly unbearable. By 3 AM Sunday morning I was literally crawling on the floor and I was sure my appendix was about to burst.
So it was off to the emergency room of the closest hospital at speed. On arrival I started vomiting and without going into any details I knew immediately this was not my appendix, but gallbladder problems. To cut a long story short, that is exactly what it was/is. Gallbladder infection in a bad way.
So obviously no long run for me on Sunday and no running for a while. The rest should be good for me but I’ll need to evaluate my training and race plans for the next few weeks. I’m feeling a lot better now and will keep you posted.

  2. This is a frightening pain - one of my colleagues at work turned so pale one day - he obviously was keeping his breathing shallow because of the pain and he passed out - we rushed him to the Hospital and they immediately took him over other people.

I think they made him drink 6 or 7 litres (almost 2 gallons) of fluids every day during his recovery period on the antibiotics.

He recovered and is now a pain in the ass for us!

    Hang in the Johann!

  23. Johann - I have some family history with GB issues. There are some good dietary practices to keep it cleared (assuming it was not removed, which you did not mention.) Take care of it and get yourself back to strength - those attacks weigh your body down!

  26. Sorry to hear about your health scare, glad that it had a positive outcome. Sometimes we don't listen to the subtle messages from our body and then we are "forced" into rest. Take it easy and trust in the process :-).
